Cleaning Collar and Exhaust housing???

hey guys....I have a 351 and have ordered all the parts to make the swap...but before I place my order with you all I have a question.

I wanted to clean the exhaust said and I have taken the turbo apart in the 3 pieces...taken out the pin's to clock and before I put it back together I thought I would clean the collar and vanes and housing....what would you reccomend using...to do that....

As well in order to manually move the collar I can see based upon the guy running the WG method you take off the electronics and simply rotate the gear....

If I do this is there something other than just simply lining up the teeth of the gears when putting it back together??

Thanks

Jake

PS..Caleb thanks for the help so far...I decided to not do the untapped ATS thing and I will be taking my stock manifold to a friend that owns a machine shop....gonna do the pipe plug, re-drill and set stud method.

I know that will not allow me to put the stock turbo back on...but ordering another stock EM is less expensive then going the ATS route should I need to.

brake clean and i soft wire brush. if you remove the electronics make sure the motor is in the "home" location or you will have a hell of a time setting it back up.

i recomend you leave that part of the turbo alone. also on some of the turbos that i have seen there is a small pipe plug tword the turbine housing jsut behind the oil inlet of the cart. that was put there by hoset to aid dealerships in cleaning the "piston". simply unscrew that and when you have the turbo on the start the truck and spray brake clean into that hole and sweep the piston with the controler back and forth..
