6.7 swap

Ive searched the forum for a couple hours over a course of a couple days about swapping a 6.7 into a 2nd gen. Reason being is my 01 5.9 took a crap on me and needs rebuilt but I got my hands on a 6.7 cr with everything motor turbo injectors harness ecm pcm for a killer deal at $700 with under 100,000 miles. With that being said I want to put it in my 01. I've read it's easier to get an 06 ecm and harness. Can I make the 2012 harness and ecm work or better off finding one for an 06? My 47re is built already and has a manual vb so trans wise I'm not worried. Would just like a little insight into the swap. I know it will be a bit of a wiring headache and won't necessarily be cheap either but doing a ppump swap motor build on a 5.9 won't be cheap either. And I'm fairly sick of the vp. Having efi live will be nice to! Have a dd truck on a bigger single with street manners than can run around 800hp sure does spike my interest. Thanks to those with some insight as much info as possible will be much appreciated

Not that I'm much help, but if you were so inclined, I bet you could sell that 6.7 and pick up a 12v engine for a tidy profit. Less wiring headache with that.

But I know that's not what this thread is about, so hopefully some more relevant info will come your way.

I thought about it. But one for as cheap as I picked up the 6.7 it's worth a little wiring headache to me. Plus I have a 24v right now so if anything it would be ppuming my motor and rebuilding it but I really don't want to go that route where I have this 6.7 plus everyone does a ppump swap having a 6.7 would be a little more unique. Especially here in Idaho idk if I have ever heard of or seen one here. So it would be kinda unique ha
