should say

Dtc P0606

Another

DTC P0606 was shown in a generic trouble code manual that came with an over-the-counter DTC reader to be "PCM Processor Failure". Apparently this is a generic term that can be "PCM, or ECM, or who knows what else. After replacing my $400.00 PCM and no fix, Bob Wagner pointed it out to me that on these diesel trucks the P0606 is actually "Control Module Internal Performance" and according to the Smarty Manual for the '02 model it states "P0606-ECM HARDWARE ERROR". It would have actually pointed me toward the ECM (ECU) had I only looked it up and put some effort into it.

Note to self: Research the true meaning of you DTC's before buying expensive electronic modules in a reference that is geared toward your truck model. Do not rely on a generic booklet, it may cost you $400.00.

?

I have DTC codes :
P1291-No temp rise seen from intake heaters.
I took out all the heater grid from the block for better flow so I cleared that code.
P1694-Fault in companion module
-No CCD messages recieved from ecm.
The P1694 code I have no idea what it is I called a Dodge Dealer near me and they did'nt even have that code in there computer. So I did the research and found it.

Now my question is is this causing my truck the hard starts on the P1694 code. I went and bought batteries and did not solve problem. So I then turned the fuel pressure down from the setting Industrial Injection gave me.Still nothing changed,It cranks but cranks for a little bit then fire's. I need help so I dont have to take it to the stealership.

CCD is the name of the bus that comunicates with the overhead console and a bunch of other crap. It means that the console is not receiving the signal from the ECM/PCM.

Need Help!!

The other night i was driving home and out of no where my truck shuts off. I start it back up and drive a little further and does the same thing. I keep tryin to start it back and it keeps shuttin off. I checked for codes and only it only showed 1694 which i believe is related to the ECM. Is it worth goin ahead and buyin a new one?? Ive already taken the ECM off and cleaned it up with electrical cleaner..anybody let me know their opinion. thanks

Hell no. Find a like truck ans swap them first. It only takes about 15 minutes. Pull the two 10mm bolts on the fuel can, move it, then take the ECM off and swap it. The dealer wants $1135 for a new one and that is blank with no program. You can get them online for about $595 as a reman.

If you can swap one and test the theory first, you'll be ahead. You can't return it!!!!

It means it has lost connection to the CCD bus which connects things like the central timer module, overheads, ABS, PCM, ECM, and all the other crap. It would appear that you have a lose connection or broken wire somewhere.

Click the image to open in full size.

CCD means "CCD FAILURE". It is getting no data.

I have the same problem as well as the code # to follow...I am assuming this is related to low voltage or a faulty A.P.P.S. sensor...I have yet to confirm this, but I am purchasing a new one soon and I hope will solve the prolbem.

When you do the key on-off trick, it should flash codes then say "PCM DONE" then it will flash more codes if they are there and then say "ECM DONE". Then you'll know more about which module is bad. Not always 100% isolation, but at least it may give you a clue.
