99 7.3 transmission module

I picked up a 99 7.3 for a work truck with a bad torque converter. Replaced it and did a over haul on the trans. Supposedly it has a transmission module that makes it shift harder. It did but I'm thinking maybe the module that shorts out the solenoid also screwed the torque converter. I'm a cummins guy with no clue. the so called module is right under the fuse panel. Any help and advice to what this is is greatly appreciated.

Is that a banks ? I'd get rid of it, if you are going to put a chip in it,the chip will have shift enhancements in the programming.
