Pro Street 4 link for a daily driver?

I'm sorry, I was thinking Torrey's truck had been 4 linked in the rear at this point. I understand leaf springs have nothing alike in a link set up. That's what I get for assuming haha

Until SS and PS get forced together it will remain just a simple leaf spring setup.

1.41 on fresher tires. The tires I ran this year were heat cracked really bad and 60's suffered. Hoping that with new tires next year I can improve on that number.

Well bgreen776, you get it to 60' like that and you are a mid 10's truck no other changes.

That thing is awesome! I'd love to build something similar, something light. Right now I'm struggling to balance my mild insanity and craving for the ridiculous against my marriage. 1.4x... I can't even imagine!

I really should stop building this truck and buy a standard cab. :hehe:

After the holidays I'll hit the books on drag racing specific suspensions. I almost ordered a set of Caltrac bars today, but race season isn't for another 5 months, so I'll hold off and see how I feel about the 4 link in a couple months. I think I can build it in a couple weekends pretty easy. For now I'm going to work on getting my corner weights and a true xyz COG once I get my ride height set where I want it.

My biggest challenge will likely be building a suspension that doesn't detract too much from the overall driveability of the truck, but will be a big enough improvement over leafs on the track to justify the time and expense.

Just as a frame of reference we have been as good as 1.44 on leaf's and caltracs, and avg about 1.48 60'. Hopefully with some changes this year we can get that down to consistent bottom 1.4's.

Leaf's can be made to work, but then you loose the fun in fabbing a new setup.

Thats so awesome!

I'm racing at 7000 lbs give or take, and aprrox 900 at the wheels. I can't expect 1.4x at that weight and HP, with any tire can I? I'm still running 20" Nitto's.

If you look way way back in the NHRA SS records Kevin Morken once held the record with a 10.x @ ~128mph. He was ~7000lbs and running on 20" wheels as well, and he was well into the 1.5x.

With some drag radials and some suspension work on what you have, I think you could be into the 1.4's as even back when we were 6700lbs we had several high 1.4 60's.

Even now I doubt we leave the line at more than about 600hp.

Well... That is interesting. I would have never thought that was possible.

I'm working on the stock suspension today. Lowering the truck a little, installing air bags, and building some adjustable spring clamps.

CompD - The fun vacuum. Thanks for a lot. How dare you all use logic, reason, history, and experience to recommend anything on the internet. :hehe:

Now I'm going to have to work more overtime so I can get some shocks, wheels, and tires. And maybe a trip through the car wash.

You planning to use the spring clamp on the front of the pack or back? Whats the main idea there? Just trying to get the rear lower and stiffer?

I'm probably going to clamp both ends, not wanting to squat at all, but the caltrac bars I just received might negate that need. I'll have to experiment to see what works the best. I'm only running the main leaf, and one other, yet with the airbags and good double adjustable shocks I may not have to.

I'm going have my wife and friends to take a lot of pictures and video of my launches this year, hoping to cut a 1.5x 60'!
