Truck died in the middle of the road

The P0341 can also set if you crank it a bunch without the engine starting for other reasons. If you had a scan tool that will read all the rpm signals you can easily see if its the sensor or not.

Well I ordered the sensor online and it should be here on thursday. Ill keep you guys updated. Also the motor showed the P0341 code while the truck was running and the tack was bounding a little bit.

Im really hoping the sensor fixes the truck and I can drive it again. Just really enjoy driving a manual as oppose to my auto F150. Ill updated this thread as I go.

Ok i installed the new cam position sensor and the truck still work start.

I sprayed a little starter fluid into the intake and the truck fired up for a few seconds.

Ok i turned the key to ignition 3 times and these are the codes i got on the bash.

PCU:

P1492 Battery Temperature Sensor Voltage Too High
P1693 DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM

ECU:

P0230 Transfer pump Circuit Out Of Range
P0370 Fuel Injection Pump Speed/Position Sensor Signal Lost
P0522 Oil Pressure Voltage Too Low
P1693 DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM

I checked all the connections and the batteries. they are all fine.

Beleive the last one i had with the p0370 code i had to end up putting a pump on it.

That is the conclusion im am coming to aswell. I think the lift pump circuit was not being activated by the ECM and the VP44 was having to pull fuel direct from the tank and it finally gave up.

I just hate the idea of spending $1200 on a lift pump less than a month after i bough the truck.

I could have told you its not the crank sensor. most of those codes are generated from excessive cranking.

start doing some reading over at blue chip diesel's page. when you said the truck would run for 10 seconds then die that says VP to me.

im going to bet your AD has been dead for longer than you think and the VP is paying the consequences.

as stated above, every air dog needs a pressure gauge. the added benefit of a low pressure fuel gauge is you can learn how your pressure changes when your fuel filter starts to see restricted flow, v.s. changing the filter by mileage.

best of luck sir.

Yes i see the error i made. I have ordered a new fuel pressue gauge and will wire my airdog to a switch.

Also in the market for a new VP.

Ya the p0370 code is for the position sensor in the pump (IAT is what bosch calls it). Thats basically another death code unfortunately. Its possible the screws that hold the IAT to the driveshaft came loose and it is loosing the signal. A person can take the PSG loose and look at the screws, but you have to be very careful not to tear the ribbon wire that connects the IAT to the PSG.

The p0230 code may just be from the Airdog. The ECM signal is now sent to a relay, which doesn't give the ECM the same feedback as the factory style lift pump. Not uncommon with fass or airdog style pumps.

Understood Ill try it. I took a picture of my VP44 and it would appear it is a upgraded 105 Lightening from Scheid diesel. Not sure if they can help me out since the pump was wire tapped by the previous owner.

I also found this revolution sensor for a VP44. It might be worth trying to replace it.

Ok i opened the VP44 PSG cap and found that the ribbon connector was torn. I was very careful when removing the cap and dont believe that i tore the connector and it does explain the truck dying suddenly in traffic and the P0370 code.

What do you guys think? should i buy the sensor of ebay and give it a shot or send the pump in as a core to be rebuilt?

I'd be asking myself what caused that ribbon cable to get pulled on hard enough to tear. are any of the traces torn in the cable? have you looked at the cover / psg to see if you can even replace it?

I've been wondering that also. Not sure why the tear but from a visual inspection i dont see anything else in the pump that would cause a tear. Maybe it was the just fluid pressure and movement over time.

The way i see it now is new sensor cost me $85 shipped but it will be worth it if it works. If not ill send it in as a core to be rebuilt or buy a used one from someone on the forum.

Yes i should be able to replace it. Its has 4 solder points on top of the PSG that are isolated from the remainder of the circuit board and the points are accessible. I just need to be careful but i should be able to solder the new sensor in.

The only thing that makes me wonder about this is that:

If you look at the pictures carefully all the connector/conductors in the ribbon appear to be intact. The tear is on the side of the ribbon that is for support and does not appear to have any conductor lines running through it. Maybe in a ground for the sensor but I'm not sure. But i am hopeful because the code i got was P0370 which to my very limited knowledge is associated with this sensor.

hallelujah!

The Bosch Rotation Angle Sensors #1467255103 arrived in the mail today and in installed in and the truck started right up and is running like a champ.

I am so freaking happy this worked. Thank you to all who helped me with advise.
