I am not a cnc programmer and I even knew that. I suppose some odd ball oem could use whatever they want to turn on spindles, coolant etc. Not too much the old fanuc handy manuals don't tell ya.

Haven't seen g56 used for a coolant on command either(usually used for your 3rd work/fixture offset). My experience with trade school/junior college MTT people over the last 35 years has been that they all want to learn to be programmers without becoming machinists. We had to complete a 4 year apprenticeship and do 2 years on nc/cnc before they'd let us even thing about programming. Suncoast is probably looking for someone a bit more advanced than defining Q values in a G83. M functions are generally used for turning on and off coolant, spindle on and off, tool change, etc and vary from tool builder to tool builder.

They all have to try and reinvent the wheel. Instead of having a fanuc, the hardinge 1000 II I work on has a networked Siemens 810D. Its a POS. And uses 501-599 as work offsets. They all have to do something different to keep yo on your toes. Lol
