3406 power

I have it in my head that I need a 1500+hp 3406 for a project I have in mind. I know next to nothing about them.
Due to the nature of the project, mechanical injection and a big single turbo is probably the best route.
Driveability is not a issue, it's going to be a puller.
A friend of mine worked for Caterpillar for 40+ years. He has quite the collection of engines and parts. I'm not sure what I need to be looking for.
I know the 3406 injection pump has potential, I also have a stock 13mm Sigma sitting here that potentially could be used.

Anyone have some knowledge to share on the subject?

I would put the money into the factory pump, the sigma would lose you the timing advance that is built into the cat drive mechanism.

Ideally the first step in the right direction is to get rid of the cat nozzles.

Knowing the trucks you would pull against, it would be quite a feat getting a B/C model to run with the hot street guys without spending some money at cyclone for pump and fuel system parts.

I won't be pulling against trucks. 10-20k hot/open farm tractor.

I need to go see Fink after the season is over, to see about running 3 engines on the dyno and some other stuff. I planned on getting some input from him on the subject.

I was hoping you would chime in, you seem to know a bit about them .
