Bouncing tach

Tach bounces over 2500 rpm. Took off the autometer 5" tach and going to a stock look. Swapped from a comp fluidamper to standard. Autometer tach was ran off the 4 bolts in the damper and worked flawless.

New factory tach is off the damper and set at .50 tho works under 2500, then starts bouncing widely all the up to 5k. Truck is a hodpodge of every year. But 12v running a 98 ECM, 98 harness, 98 dash. Repinned the 2000 body so its legit factory pinned out to a 98.

Any ideas? I went a little under .50 and it was off. Ran the old business card, off as well. Think its just not centered? Would shielding the wires help?

TIA

Fluidampr has a special one. Dont knownifni can get a stock one to work. Its been forever since I've done stock 12v junk
