48RE input seal question

Finally putting my truck back together with the 6.4 build. Filled the trans today and went to stab it in, and when I rocked it forward to get it on the jack, trans fluid gushed out of the bell housing from the converter/input shaft connection.
I'm much more familiar with the 68rfe, which has two seals on the input.
This trans (ATS stage 6 prototype) doesn't have any.
There is a groove in the pump shaft that looks like it should carry an oring seal, but I'm being told that it doesn't....
What's the deal here ?

Your first post makes it seem like the transmission is full of fluid already. I add fluid once the trans is bolted in the vehicle.

And how far forward are you leaning the trans to place it on the jack? Did the converter slide off the input when leaning the assembly forward? I can honestly say I’ve never experienced this.

IT'S REMOVED ON PURPOSE. How much trans fluid did you put in? It's probably coming out the top vent! Put it back in!

Your vent is in the bellhousing above and behind the torque convertor.

Wasn't coming out of the vent. It was coming out of the bell housing...
I'm just going to assume that the converter did slide foward some (even though I was holding it tight, and didn't feel it move) and caused the leak.

Put fluid in the trans and TC when it was out of the truck for the simple fact that it was easy, and I had a buddy to help me get it under the truck and on the jack...

Problem was, before it got that far, he had family emergency and had go quick.

That left me with the task of doing it by myself. At that point I really wished I hadn't already filled it with fluid. Lol

I pulled my trans to swap convertors and left it full. I tilted the trans forward to have room to swap the conv and fluid came out of the vent, in the bell housing. Almost exactly as your describing.

Thanks jasonc... That makes me feel a little better about it.
I know the 68's TC have shaft seals, and they "snap" into place. This 48 TC just slid on with no resistance, and then leaked pretty bad when I tilted it forward.
