Rudy's put it in the wall

They can be seen cleaning up something on the truck just before the run. Don't know if that had anything to do with the crash or not.

What’s up with it shooting fire out the exhaust right before he launches it ? Is he spraying it right before he launches ? I’ve seen something similar on pullers but not to the extent that this truck did it . Just curious.

Damn, so it was liquid on the track? Or did something lock up on the right side of the truck?

Looks like an 'anti-lag' setup. Basically retard timing so you push most of your compression out the exhaust instead of pushing the piston down. It spools the turbo pretty well. It's also really hard on the turbo.

I can't say I've seen it done on a diesel, but that's definitely what it looks like to me.

Wasn't fire out of the exhaust on the staging limiter, that was the ambers on the protree.

Part failure. I was standing on the fence directly looking at where it hit the wall. Truck mad an immediate right. Rawlings lifted as soon as the truck made a move. In my opinion he did a great job driving and saved the truck.

Rawlings told me Saturday they thought it lifted a head. Chassis never unsettled, just went straight for the wall.

Looking back at my pics the run was going well until the mid part of the track where a fog of liquid appears under the truck and it shoots right. Talking with Rawlings, Aaron and the rest of the Rudy's crew they think it lifted the passenger side head and pushed out water that got on the tires as he was putting the power down and sent him spinning toward the wall.

Rawlings was sore but unhurt, the truck took a hard his and may even need some chassis straightening...

Two gassers running later wrecked bad too... they were in a pedalfest for the semi-final round of the quick-8 which turned into a fast-4 and when the Mustang got back into the throttle the last time it shot left toward center and clipped the Nova in the right rear quarter and sent them both spinning down the track... The Nova was pretty torn up!!! The Nova team was pissed at the Mustang team, but they BOTH pedaled after getting off the line and if the Nova was on a good pass and not pedaling he wouldn't have been there to be hit so I don't put all the blame on the Mustang at all like many others did...

From the rear it looked like a broken axle or something, but it was not. Lifted a head and got the tires wet... pics show the fog of water...

Sure do... Rawlings said he wont race there again, but he was still sore after the hit so hopefully he will change his mind and run there next year after the rebuild.

I also hope the chassis isn't too damaged and they won't need to do much more than build a new control arm for that side...

[QUOTE=Chris Tobin;2676468]Sure do... Rawlings said he wont race there again,

Im not sure I understand that. That is the nicest facility (besides shutdown) in the ODSS circuit

Because he's put the truck in the wall two years in a row now... A lot of damage to the truck and budget as well as some pain and anxiety from the family will make anyone rethink a particular track for sure...

I hope he reconsiders and comes back and tames the track next year!!!

I hate to see this, beautiful truck too. Hopefully it's a quick turn around and he's back up and running soon.

It is an AMAZING truck!!! The quickest & fastest Power Stroke out there!!!

My feature article on the truck is in the current issue of Ultimate Diesel Builder's Guide magazine which went on sale on the newsstand on 7.24.18... Go pick up a copy and tell me what you think!!!

The art director did an awesome job combining my pics of the truck with the body panels on and off for a see through effect!!!!

The crew needs to be schooled, you don't send it if there is liquid coming from anywhere, it's just begging to be crashed.....

Sucks to see.
