Case IH Magnum Series reccomendations

So dad is looking to buy a used magnum probably 71 72 or possibly a 89 series. We just tore up the rear end and hydraulic pump in our 1486. I was doing a little research for him and I was wondering if there were any problems too watch out for. The 8.3 CDC motor seems pretty good in our combine but just wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

stick with the 2 speed reverse models. 4 speed ones had issues.

I've personally been around a 7220 and a 7140. I never had an issue with the 4 speed reverse other than being hard to engage occasionally. They are great tractors in my opinion.

Spent a lot of time in a 7120 in college. There were 3 identical 7120s at the farm I worked at. Did everything from running a Kinze with a Rawson drive to yanking a chisel and they worked flawlessly for 3 years.

We run a 7120 and a 7210 and do just about everything with them but chisel plow. Love them.
