Weird starting issue

some info on the truck- 2002 Chevrolet 2500hd duramax/allison


Issue: 1st turn of the key, it spins the starter. 2nd turn it fires then dies. 3rd turn it starts up and runs just fine.

any idea of what could be causing this? i am dumbfounded.
 
Sounds like loss of prime to me. Check the rubber fuel lines at the engine and your fuel filter for signs of air leaks. Pressurizing the tank seems to be a good way to check for leaks. Put about 2-3 PSI of pressure in it and look for leaks.
