OM603 power gains?

Hey everyone. Not new to the Mercedes diesel life but I am new to the 603. I just picked up a 300sdl and I want to add some power. I'm not looking for extremes I mainly do this stuff "because I can and because the parts are out there." That being said, what are some of the best ways to add power to these motors. Id like to start simple with "motor hacks" like adjusting the stock IP and timing or adjusting/bypassing the wastegate. What all can be done on a factory motor?

After I get that, I do plan on going with 7mm pump and a turbo. The pump I already know where to buy from but what's everyone running for turbo and intake/exhaust manifolds? I've researched as much as possible but I can't seem to find a lot of info on these motors. Mainly 617 and 606. Thanks for any help and advice. Hope to find some good pointers here.

The stock injection pump is no good, basically a waste of time to try tuning it. The most basic tuning people tend to do is swapping in the pump elements from the OM606 turbo pump which are capable of nearly double the fuel quantity of the 5.5mm elements found in the OM603 pump. Such a swap has to be calibrated on a pump test bench.
When I had the stock injection pump on my OM602, I was able to extract around 140 horsepower by maxing out the pump, I had much more by adding a methanol injection kit.
