Issues with tow mirrors on 97

I mounted my tow mirrors with reinforcement plates a month ago. Installation went well. Today, I went to install the door panels and the electric mirror switch and the top mirror stud and nut are hitting each other. Anyone else run into this problem? Here is a picture of the driver's side mirror, looking thru the window from the outside of the door. Thanks.

I have this style, love them, and no clearance issues. (For ten years now)

It's probably too late for purchasing advice, but if you back out, I can vouch for these!

I had read a lot of good reviews about these from 1A Auto. I sent them some pics, so I will see what kind of response I get.
