TDI Tune, Delete and Exhaust

Looking to get opinions on exhaust for a 2009 TDI. I plan on deleting the emissions on my car very some, but I'm undecided on the exhaust setup.

I plan on going to RawTek for the exhaust and a Malone tune. I'd like to go with a straight, open exhaust but I'm concerned about the noise. Thinking I might at least need a resonator. I'm looking for some feed back on guys who have deleted similar cars.

I'll probably go with a Sage 2 tune because I would like a little power gain, but looking for more MPG.

Exhaust

Tunes

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Noise isnt too bad. I wouldnt worry about a resonator unless your in the city. Might have a little bit of drone noise but overall they arent bad straight.

now if it was a gtb2260 setup yes I would resonator it.

2013 TDI -

Buzzken exhaust into factory muffler and tailpipe.

Perfect for daily driver in my opinion not loud but has a little noise.

Malone stage 2 and DSG tune.
Runs good and better milage.

Thanks guys. As I sit here thinking about it it can't be nearly as bad as a 05 Dodge CR with a 10' piece of 5" straight pipe in place of the muffler.

I enjoy driving this car and it is actually very quiet inside. I wouldnt mind a little drone so it sounds a little like a diesel but don't want to bother passengers.

Does Buzzken do Malone tuning as well? Whats the down pipe cost vs the RawTek? Did you do the work your self? Reading through RawTek's instructions you have to drop the sub frame down to get the DPF and down pipe out. Being that I don't have a lift that might get a little interesting.

Is this what you have?

This is what I have
http://www.buzzken.com/mk5-6-golf-je...te-by-buzzken/
It ties into the factory muffler tailpipe.

I went to a Malone dealer for the installation. Wanted it done quickly.

I am getting 42-46 on winter blend driving hard. I drive 70 miles to work and 25 of those are on rural roads and the rest is highway. But some is stop and go traffic when I get close to Chicago.

Interesting.

I baby the **** out of mine and I get that kind of mileage, hand calculated year round. More around 41-43 mpg in the winter and around 44-46 in the summer time. I shift around 2,200 rpm, ease into the throttle while accelerating, set the cruise and don't ever go more than 65 mph on the highways.

It has been in the mid-40s to mid-60s last week here in Upstate NY, I got 44.6 mpg hand calculated on around 450 miles.

You can do it without a lift, but it's a pain. You can make it go alot easier by slicing the downpipe right after the DPF. then everything pretty much falls out. I can PM pictures of where to cut. I'm running the same buzzken/malone/dsg tune as Eric. Love it at half the price of a Rawtek from fixmyvw.com

I left the resonator and muffler on. Wife doesn't complain so it's very quiet on the inside of the car.

Thanks! Pictures would be greatly appreciated. My thought was to try to keep as much of the original emissions system as possible in case it ever had to go back on.

I personally don't care about the noise, since I have had dodge pickups with straight exhaust and it not bothered me. But passengers don't always like it.

Have any of you that have deleted your car and have a Melone tune had any issues at the dealer?

No, I deleted it at 17k and still had free oil changes at the dealer done and nothing was said. I just make sure they don't flash the ecm, I bought a obd2 block of plate.

There's not a time the car's running that it does see nearly 4000rpm and WOT a few times on every trip to and from work. Short of warm up... The car is just that slow tho. 150whp, turbo, injectors, tune, clutch, exhaust. Nice brake upgrade tho.

I get 40-42 year round. MPG is going up in the last 6 months mostly due to a less retarded traffic on my way to the current job vs the last. I tend to get to 80 and cruise consistently vs re-accelerating.

My service writer asked me what tune he should put on his own TDI after I requested no flash on our ECM.

I hope not to have to go back to the dealer after I get my car deleted. I feel like all the problems will be solved. Plus the last time I was there they really hosed me. I got the Goodwill but before I got them I called to see what a timing belt would cost. They quoted me $900 so I made an appointment. When I showed up with the cards they m said "oh it's really $1,200."
