finding a 238T engine

Wondering if there's any good places to find used tractor engines. Looking at getting a Ford 7610 engine (238T) for a future build.

Have a good one sitting in a leaf loader. Bought 2 of them just for the engines. A low hour one is hard to come by and a reman is like 6k. They all crack in the cylinder walls and need to be sleeved so they are hard to come by. Also have 2 with cracked blocks lol. We have a bunch of tractors that use them and keep spare parts just in case.

Keep an eye out for municipal auctions, leaf loaders and choppers had them as well as some other gen sets and industrial equipment. Are you looking to put it in a tractor?

I was kinda thinking of slipping one in my pickup....until you mention cracked blocks. Thinking of the kid version of the 6.6 in the trucks. Use the front cover(pump adapter) & gears from a 6.6 truck....a 12mm P3000 pump=peppy little clatter box under the hood. They arent as hearty as the 401? Are the cracks from metal fatigue at mounting points, or design flaw?

You're right, it's a 268T I was looking for. Most tractor bone yards want to charge a mint for a good used one.

Reread the thread, wasn't aware 268 had block cracking problems, find one with a bad block cheap and transfer everything into a 256 block, they have the same bore, 268 has a longer stroke.
