Rattling noise

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 81,763 miles 100% over Ppe duals, sxe369
Went into the grocery store tonight truck ran fine, came back out started it up and has a horrible rattling noise. Coming from under the hood noise only happens in park and neutral, and goes away when you raise the Rpms past idle. It still runs and drives fine, no check engine lights, good oil pressure. In drive or reverse it goes away. Performance wise the truck still runs well need some assistance

Can you post a clip like to hear it! First guess is loose flex plate bolt or starter not fully disengaging.

Been hearing of broken flex plates a lot here lately. Guy on TDR posted pics of his. The ring gear and the flex plate were broken. Sounded like a rod knocking.

Could be the converter also. I had a Suncoast triple that started rattling one day out of the blue. Never gave me any trouble other than the noise.

Seems like my instagram thread has turned up some good advice though flex plate, fuel knock or loose convertor bolts

Convertor bolts were loose. Put red locktite on them this time and torqued them down. Thank you gentlemen.

I know it's a big project but I would pull converter and check holes and put in new bolts. I'm no tranny expert but went threw a few and several converters in my puller. Better safe then sorry.

F that you'll know the threads are junk when the bolts don't tighten up!

Bolts tightened up just fine the threads on the bolts and in the convertor were fine. Going to have to buy a new convertor soon anyways.
