crank shaft repair

I've got a pile of cranks that are about to go to the scrap yard but just wanted to verify that there is nobody out there that can repair them?
All have one wiped out rod either spun or snapped. Hate to see them thrown away! Anybody repair them properly?
ON a side note besides the gear are all the 12 and 24v cranks the same?
Anybody have a break down on cranks and seal differences?

The cranks can be repaired and they sell over sized bearing sets for repaired cranks. The cranks for 5.9 12V-24V-CR are all the same part number. They might be worth more to a machine shop as a core than to let them go as scrap.

If they're blackened on the journals, or dented (rod slapped it), they are likely cracked, ergo, scrap.

Pics are of the rear of a 2012 6.7 at stock power.
It broke on the crank arm.

No other damage besides #7 main bearing being all chewed up.

This is not the first time I have seen similar happen on a stock engine.

Mark.

Seems all the 5.9 cranks are the same 12v and 24v besides the drive gear are there any front or rear main seal differences? 12v Cranks are everywhere for cheap! Change the drive gear should be good to go. Can someone that's done this or has access to specs chime in! Are there any years to stay away from like VP motors or?

I'm not sure if ALL 24V cranks have the crank sensor tone wheel or not but I know the early ones do.

1998-2000 use the tone ring, which comes off.
It would still work in any other engine.

One thing to know, besides the front gear needing swapped, is that the hole in the tone wheel, for the locating pin, goes in line with #1 rod journal.

And i was always told was alot cheaper to source a good standard, standard crank. Then to pay to have it turned and buy the undersized bearings. They were alot higher a few years back.
