We'll most likely end up with a 5x038" dual fed IH-style injector, testing will performed with various injector sizes and spray patterns to see what makes the best "chassis dyno" numbers. Low load, quick RPM gain chassis dyno pulls don't always act the same as high load engine dyno runs so we'll have to play with the injectors to find what works best.

With the carnage we witnessed last year, we're afraid to bet the whole contest on (1) engine. That said, we don't have enough expendable income/spare cash to fund (2) full-blown engine builds so there will be a mixture of High End Engine Parts and good old-school hot rodder/Junker Drag Truck backup plans.

Plan C for the engine is this filled 5.9 block that is being upfitted with flanged ductile iron sleeves. It probably won't hold up to sled pulling portion of the event but if we lose plan A or plan B, it's going to be a spectacular sled pull!!!

For those looking at the Hamilton War Head upgrade for their race project, there are some other upgrade costs and benefits to consider when upgrading to this head such as: new larger/longer valves, new longer head studs, cost savings from the factory cut-off intake shelf, and massive 270 CFM airflow as-cast with small valves and the potential for over 350 CFM with large valves and porting.
I'm jelly. I want to play with one of those war heads, ended up with the hi swirl head.

Next build......

Question though, what size is that front wheel?

106mm is the inducer size on the GT5541r turbos. Good for 180 lbs per minute each... they are the old setup and plenty for testing this weekend

Just isn't gonna happen with Indy. The Indy offering might flow as well as an as cast war head, but, without support from the manufacturer, we'll never know.

Sorry man, I really pushed to get one working.

We have one of the Fatt aluminum heads now. This head will be bolted on a sleeved down 6.7 for Bodacious. Gonna give Mr. Nye a call real soon. Then, hopefully, we'll know anything and everything we've ever wanted to know about this particular head.

I am also taking delivery of one of the factory cummins aluminum blocks and head. Should be here in a couple days so stay tuned over on the Ram50 build thread.

We plan to run a 6.7L engine at the event, so we decided to increase the airflow a bit more and upsized the high pressure turbo a bit to match the higher CFM demands of the 6.7 engine/War Head combination.

The new high pressure turbo is a Garrett GTX50 88mm, which will be fed by a pair of the newest Gen 2 GTX55 98mm chargers. The new GTX55 98's flow an outstanding 230 lbs per minute for a nice 25 to 30% gain over the older GT5541r (106mm) chargers. Testing will determine which turbo setup spools best/makes the best chassis dyno numbers but spare turbos is always a good idea when going to an event 1200 miles from the shop.

GTX55 next to an HX35 for size reference, not really a huge turbo vs. the airflow it delivers!

How does a 16mm pump compare to a sigma pump like Darren M was running on his s10 drag truck. Will it be an auto type governor.

The Farrell 16mm pump does have a "Farrell Modified" auto governor with some governor lockout sleeves to make it unlimited RPM if we need it, otherwise it's a high 6.5krpm governor setup. Peak chassis dyno power with the old 5.9 setup was occuring in the 5000 to 5200 RPM range with a decent load, unloaded might require 6k+ rpm to see peak power.

As far as injection rate, Sigma pumps can be outfitted with anywhere from 15mm up to 21mm plungers, this 16mm will obviously not have anywhere near the injection rate of a top level 21mm Sigma, but we also don't have 600+ cubic inches of Deere long block to use it....

As far as Morrison's old Sigma, it's possible this 16mm is less than, equivalent, or greater injection rate, all depends on what cam and plunger setup was in that pump.

While not groundbreaking (no offense, pulling guys are generally more crazy about them) the idea of that pump, and the numbers you mentioned make me all fuzzy inside.
Those GTX are nice pieces as well!
