S472/HE351CW VP44 Compounds?

Truck currently has the 351 on it, made 408hp at firepunk, found a 472 with 1.32 exhaust housing for $250. I'm thinking this should be a nice pairing for an rpm limited VP truck, with an end goal 500 working hp. I'm guessing the 472 will need a good once over, is that something thats going to get pricey in a hurry, or is a basic overhaul something I could handle myself? Also thinking a smaller exhaust housing would be better, but thought thats something that can be switched later as well. Do not know turbine specs, just 472 and 1.32exh.

Probably a 96 wheel. It'd work but imo you'd be better off with an 83/1.10.

You think I'd be better off to wait then? I don't want to buy a "good deal" then have to spend more than a new one to get what I actually need.

I think it would work good with a 72/96/1.32.

Have nothing to back that up, just think the big exhaust with the small comp wheel would perform good.

I wanna say I paid 600 for my 475/96/1.10 that I put below my 62/65/14 phatshaft. I wouldn't wanna go any smaller, but I think it's the perfect all around setup. Tows 26k gross great and is a fun daily driver. Made 624/1240 on ruesch diesels dyno but I was 15psi down on boost compared to the street.

In the limited looking I've done, the 75's can be bought new for $700ish, iirc that was a genuine borg too, thought the 72's were pushing $1200. Probably need to do a little more looking.

Quick poke around stumbled upon this 472, options shown in picture, would this be a better fit for a 500hp vp truck? Not sure if its Chinese or not, description says borg Warner, but this is about 1/2 or less than anyone else I've seen so far.

Borg Warner 171701 is the 71mm S400 with 88/96mm turbine and T6 1.32AR housing, the 75mm S400 with the same turbine is 171702. Borg Warner 177248 is the 71mm S400 with 74/83mm turbine and T4 1.10AR housing. The only true 72mm S400 is the SX-E variants with the smaller 96mm exducer.

Hahaha, the brains have arrived! In your educated opinion, which one should I be looking for? End goal is 500hp at the tires that I can haul tractors and ignore the egt gauge? Has sheid 150hp injectors currently, 6×.012, and a smarty for tuning, ats manifold. 3.55 gears, NV5600 trans. Would like to go to cleaner injectors eventually as well.
Maybe I could talk the wife into you being a one stop shop, if budget can allow, better parts cost more!

Update, talked with a few guys on here. Have been pointed towards the 4202 Garrett, and I agree that it does look to be a better match. But I have to shelve this idea for the time being, with a high risk pregnant wife due in July, thinking i better hold onto any extra cash until after the baby is here and settled in, just in case something happens or comes up that I need the money for. Thanks for the replies and wisdom.

I ran the cheap S475/95/1.32 under an HE351 on my 24 valve with no complaints, good running setup. Genuine Borg units can be found for under $600 on eBay, if you don't like it for some reason throw a 1.15 housing on.

Not a fan of the 96mm on a 600hp setup, wasn't impressed. Felt like It had to work hard to get the atmo spooling.

A super quick and fun daily driver is a he341w turbo and a sxe 66/1.1ar setup on a vp44 truck. It tows great with very good egt control.
