new from AZ desert
New guy here from the AZ desert. Been a few years since I last posted on here I am a disabled Marine Veteran that needed knee surgery. Well 5 surgeries later engine is finally done and running. To update, my idea was to forgo upgrading my smallish Garrett Turbo for twins, or a big single, and instead focus on a better flowing head. The results were to say the least better than expected. Pictures and more info to follow if anyone is interested.

Ok here's what we did. Cut head in half, machine surface to be drilled and tapped...Ream holes for dowel pins then begin porting and polishing. Install new Banks Mani, install head assembly. The fear was off the line acceleration would suffer. Reality is it pulls like a large electric car right off idle, and keeps pulling until I get scared... Myth busted!

I like your style on the return lines and valve cover.

How would you describe the difference? Dyno or seat of the pants? What size turbo are you running and how much did the boost and drive change from before. The head work looks great!

It only has a single 3782 Garrett. Way more drivable, no turbo lag really, more like an electric motor, instant torque. No need to power brake, it leaves hard enough to instantly break 38's loose. Was an experimental head really that has worked much better than expected.

Not so far, it has gone up 5 psi, but I tightened up the gate, and haven't dyno'd it or ran it really hard yet, with a fresh valve job, and guides, I want to put some miles on it first.

Hmm, ok I got on it a little more in OD... got 40 psi out of it. It was maxing out at 25 before I did the head and adjusted the gate.

Not entirely strange. Mechanical advantage (resistance) to the piston travel is greater in OD, so heat rejection in the cylinder is higher. The EGT is higher so more work can be done across the turbine.

I have some specialized mold polishing tools that make things go fast, and provide a good smooth finish.

Thank you all. Project update...It was a fun project. I've since gone from 38's to 42's and it still rapes the tires in a roll on throttle test, I can't believe how much torque it has, and how soon it kicks in.
