Billet rods still need clearanced?

Alright I know Carrillos needed .020" machined off of each side of their caps to shed oil at one time. Is this still the case? Not too dam excited about modifying billet rods right out of the box.

Thank you for that. I will give them a call and see. I can foresee a cap flying out of the Fadal and across the shop. Would rather they came done.

I just grabbed them in the vise and used a 2" face mill to make a relief similar to what fractured cap rods have.

Is this necessary or something for more performance? I just purchased rods and asked EEP if I needed to do anything to them and I was told I'd be fine. Maybe just upgrade the bolts depending on rpms.

I machined mine, when I was looking them over, there was a
lot of rough edges on rods. I ended up deburring complete rod.
After machining I felt they would need to be balanced anyway.

What should the caps measure after being machined?

.020" off each side is what I have seen. So mic the cap and subtract .040"

If they have been cut the rod cap will be skinnier than other half of the rod.

Obviously, right?
If I had them in front of me and/or wasn't an idiot I'd have figured that out.
