Good rear axle ratio no towing.

I have a '95 F350 (7.3) and have been thinking about getting an F250 bed and rear end to get rid of the dual wheels. Does the 3.5 ratio rear get any better mileage than the 4.1? I get 17-18 now and a bit better would be nice.

I like 3.54's for daily driving more than I ever liked the 4.10's. I'm not as happy with 3.31's for daily city driving, but if I'd do mostly highway I pick up 2-3MPG.

~3.50 is a great daily driver on 35's or smaller. There are so many variables in MPG, but you'll likely see an increase if you're doing more than city driving.

With the auto trans and 215/85 R16 tires I see around 2250 rpm or so at 65 on the speedo(around 63 mph). Not sure where the sweet spot rpm wise is on these 7.3's.

3.55 is a much better gear unless you're towing heavy.

The 3.42s in my dodge allow for 1600rpms at 75mph.
