6.4 advice

I'm planing on buying a 2010 2wd single cab long bed and swapping to a short bed. I want to make a reliable race truck how far can i take the engine trans stock? After getting the truck I'll have just the cash to get intake, exhaust, dpf, and tuner.
I'v read but any one on here that can tell me what power things started to go?
What combos did you run?
What tuner will support from stock all the way to say 12.00 1/4 thats my goal.

Pistons are a gamble, some have no problems, others do. IH HD, or stock delipped seem to have no issues. If running a single, theres guys running 950+ on stock rods. Tuners I'd say H&S or SCT. SCT is much cheaper but H&S has MCC. Trans, theres guys running mid 12's stock. Guy on PSA is trying for 11's I believe in a CCSB, untouched trans with upgraded turbos.

^^ what he said. I'd go with an H&S for tuning. Stock trans will hold up to 12's with good tuning.

you can get awfully close to 12.0's in a stock RCSB with a good tune and traction

That traction is no small feat, mind you.

If you move forward with it, LMK, I can get you into an H&S cheap

I am in the middle of your build right now. Truck is shortened and I currently have straight exhaust, No Limit Fabrication Intake, and Eric at Innovative Diesel's Street Tune (500whp). Everything else, including the trans, is stock. Getting power to the ground will be the challenge. From a 20mph roll I can light up 305/50/20 Toyo Proxes with ease. I am shooting for 650-675 on fuel and 750ish on spray with supporting mods. Should be able to do burnouts at near highway speeds.
