6 Speakers and a 4 Channel Amplifier

Just got ahold of a Kicker CX600.5 five channel amp, a new head unit, and some speakers. The truck didn't come with the Infinity 6 speaker setup, but I'm adding the 2 x 3.5" dash speakers. I know can power more than one speaker with each channel, but I am curious to know whether or not I can power the 4 x door speakers with the amplifier, and then the 2 x dash speakers with the head unit. Has anyone tried this?

Hook the 2 dash speakers upbto the wiring harness on the head unit. Hook the other 4 speakers to the amp. Yes it should work i did the same with my chevy w/bose system. Factory tweeters and sub are ran off back of after market head unit. And the 4 aftermarket door speakers are ran off a 4 channel amp. I have subs that are ran off another amp.

Yep- it worked out just fine. HUGE improvement over the factory speakers.
