We recently went from E rated pickup tires to 14 ply trailer tires on our 27' 14k gooseneck and I am amazed how much better it rides. The pickup tires wore well but the sidewall must have flexed enough with a load that it bucked a lot. We didn't realize just how much until we got the new tires.

Making the gooseneck flat when hooked up makes a big difference in how smooth they pull also. The first time we pulled our current trailer loaded the neck of the trailer was too high in the front and it was not a fun ride.

Trailer flex
Suspension flex truck or trailer
Tires

9:10 I could fix the bucking from joints by running tongue heavy...
Duallies have 3 stage leaf springs.. best loaded ride is with all 3 stages in play.. sweet spot is about 1" variant in the loaded ride height...
Not enough you bounce too much you bounce.. air helper bags throws everything off.. usually guys inflate so much the 2/3 stages never come Into play.. then have axle wrap issues.. as the main spring doesn't have enough control by itself

It's the trailer, buddy of mine sells trailers. Does it have a torque tube? He won't hardly sell one with them makes them to stiff. Didn't believe it till a customer complained and he pulled one of his trailers. It's amazing how two trailers that look exactly alike can pull so different.

Yeah I'm not sure about that. I pull a 53 aluminum flat. It bounces down the road pretty good Except when I have a load that stiffens the trailer like steel or wheelsets. Then it rides like a dream.

There's a reason dry van trailers are smoother than flatbeds.

If you look at loaded semi trailers they flex. Maybe I stated it wrong above. I've had maybe 20 different trailers of all shapes and sizes. Some pulled great and other like crap. Length seems to make a difference in how they transfer road imperfections to the hitch of the truck. Best pulling trailers I've built had torflex axles or air ride but the one thing both have is the wheel trails the axle which doesn't transmit a straight up and down jolt.

The pintle hitch trailer I pull behind my dump truck is three axle air ride and you don't feel it behind hardly at all empty or with a 973 loader on it at 55,000 lbs. plus.

I had a 20+5 deck over that never bounced anywhere, and I bought a 2014 starlite, 20 foot bumper pull 14K equipment trailer, and it bounces empty but not loaded, I know someone else who has almost the identical trailer it bounced also, he took the cheap steel wheels off and found out they are egg shaped, swapped a more expensive set of trailer wheels and new tires, and his trailer doesn't bounce at all.
