Combo of used studs/low friction lubricant/coming up on torque too quickly

Changed out the shcs one by one, 100/110/120 ft lbs. first one at 120- heard it ping then it snapped. Tested accurate snap-on tq wrench. Using loctite moly lube, which after some investigation is likely part of the issue. And my bad for not factoring in just how much the lube affects clamp load.

Man that sucks

I've always used 30wt oil and never had a problem, or the supplied arp lube.
Heard that rumor of the moly lube from way back and stayed away. But the arp lube looks and feels just like the moly lube so I don't know and stay with 30wt.

Yeah. I dont think the moly is bad. But how it affects the fastener needs to be considered beforehand.

Simple redneck math tells me the 120ftlbs with moly could be applying the clamp load of more like 140-150ft lbs with oil

Its definitely a different animal.

I do like the VE. The low/midrange fuel makes for a fun truck.

Not quite as fun as a compounded ppump truck. Though.
