tips,tricks on cleaning up black and machined wheels?

i just picked up some XD Spys and the aluminum on them has these marks on them that almost looks like scribbles but you can tell its from being weathered. i planned on cleaning them up with some fine steel wool and polishing them up but it almost seems like theres some type of clear coat over the aluminum and i dont wanna mess the rims up(in other words i dont want to strip the clear off and have to be polishing these things up every week) any ideas?

Before on my factory wheels I would just use some wheel cleaner but now I just put on some black Fuel Boost wheels I might just use some soap and water. Have you tried the aluminum polish with the mothers power ball?

i use this stuff i found on ebay.. works great.. i bought a rat tail brush too and another soft brush to get the outside of the wheels.. my wheels looks brand new.. eats the brake dust right off the wheel..
