Drag Racing Traction Bars

Just curious as to if there is a difference in drag racing traction bars and sled pulling ones, or if it really matters. Looking to build a set for mine, it's a street/ drag truck so just looking for the best set up pictures would be nice too thanks

I like floating ladder bars better then cal-tracs for drag racing. Plus if you drive it on the street they aren't noisy.

If you set them up more aggressive they don't ride as well and if you set them up loose they are noisy.

Just my opinion but I think they are over rated. They are good but there are better options.

4 links are bad a$$ no matter what. If your thinking about racing it kicks you out of a lot of classes. Set up properly they hook awesome! I'm going to be doing one soon on the back of my ford but for a little different reason.

little6cylinder, those are some nice looking traction bars, and they probably function well on the street, off road, and at the track.

However for something with a lot more track bias then street or off road, I think cal tracs offer a distinct advantage over those. That being ease of adjustment, with a pair of crescent wrench's I can adjust tire hit, or vehicle pull to track conditions in 30 seconds with minimal effort.

For a dedicated track vehicle I agree that ladderbars leaf sliders, shackle sliders and adjustable front leaf mount points are the way to go, but obviously they come with a lot more complexity in the setup.

What makes a caltrack different then a sled pulling traction bar set up?

Caltrac's are far superior to non adjustable ladder bars in a drag racing application. There is much more to a properly setup drag racing suspension then merely eliminating axle wrap. Actually you NEED some axle wrap in a leaf spring application, or at the very least a way to adjust/limit it, for it work properly. Shocks, spring rates, and the ability to adjust it all quickly is the key.

I love my Caltrack's they adjust easy you can set them up to plant the tires as hard as you want. The other cool thing is if you have a street truck you can back them off completly and you are back to your stock ride.

I checked them out first thing this morning now I can see why they work better for drag racing, I was just curious if someone had found a better set up then those
