Best brand of wax?

The fellow I worked for many years ago turned me on to Collinite. I believe it’s made primarily for marine applications. Goes on and buffs off nice and easy and lasts well. They make several compounds. I don’t remember what number we used. It’s been a LONG time since I had good enough paint to wax...

Collinite for sure, or Chemical guys butter wax. If you want to try a ceramic wax chemical guys just released one. I'm going to be trying it soon.

Without doing a bunch of research, is there a special application of ceramic wax vs traditional? I have been using wizzard for few years now, and have been happy.

Ceramic is a little more labor intensive upfront but it last for years VS weeks compared to traditional.

What brand would you suggest?

I haven't actually used any yet but have done a lot of reading on it and have a few friends that have had there's done by detail shops with great lasting results. The prep work is the biggest deal I think, you want to get your paint as close to factory clean as possible to get long lasting results.

I have been looking into the Ceramic paint correction stuff, seems its the new best thing.

I wouldnt say its easy to apply though, you gotta wash and dry, then clay bar, then compound, then prep with ceramic prep spray, then apply ceramic and buff off, then apply ceramic sealer, then let it set with no moisture for 12-24hrs.

Buuuuut, it looks great, lasts years, has UV protection, and keeps the truck cleaner longer.

If you dont want to do all that, I would look into the Chemical Guys Hydroslick Ceramic wax. Seems to be similar technology with a traditional application process.

Ceramic wax is just something you can spray on and wipe off. I have had good luck with the mothers CMX honestly. Just wash and dry, clay it, and use a good cleaner to get the clay lube residue off. Spray a sealant on it and then use CMX. Spray on a rag wipe it on in straight lines and then let dry and buff off with a microfiber. Works good for months.

I like the rainbow colored foamy wax the drive through drive-n-shine car wash has. SUPER easy to apply.

No, that's the cheapo knockoff stuff that's spray on wipe off. Not the real deal.

Yes I fully understand that its not actual ceramic coating but it works great. You re apply it every 4 months. Actual ceramic coating is a 2 day process to let it cure completely. I am well aware.

I'll agree with others that a real ceramic coating is the bees knees.

I personally use Adam's products and have been more than satisfied; disclaimer that my junk never sees rain or anything other than a home wash or very rarely a non-touch car wash.

I got some Hydroslick this weekend and put it on my new truck. It took a good amount of time to do, but it is a very nice end product. I started with washing and drying with Clean Slate to remove any waxes or oils, then clay bared the entire truck with the yellow bar and some Clay Luber. Then washed and dryed the again with more Clean Slate incase the Clay Luber had any oils in it. Then I applied the Hydroslick and buffed it off, the truck is super slick now and really smooth.

I have a couple Detail Garage chains in San Antonio, so thats where I picked up all my Chemical Guys stuff. The guy said the wax should last 8-10 months as long as I wash it with the HydroSuds wash.
