gettin Garmonized.....

SLVRbullet- there is a thread on the 03 tech section regarding high transmission temps. He found out it was due to the thermostat in the transmission cooler that was being hung up. Once removed, cleaned and installed his trans temps dropped back down to the 150 range.

Debris can hang them up, causing high temp issues. Maybe when your old trannies failed they sent the "extra" stuff up in there.

Just a thought!

thanks for the heads up.... i did take the thermostat apart & clean it all up just a few minutes ago just out of curiosity. Although i have flushed the entire cooling system after the first failure & once again before the Garmon trans went in.

I have my trans temp gauge in my Mag hytec pan, crusing i see 145-150. Although when i get into some steep trafic, I get 180-190. I think this is also because my clutch fan is no longer working.

i have my probe in the hot line & crusing in lock up i see 150-155, in traffic i`m 170 ish. Now if i sit at a long lite or multiple lights it will get to 190-195 but comes right back down as soon as i get some air moving thru it again. All in all i am very happy with those temps. I still have the Derale aux. cooler & fan set up if i choose to put it on there also, but for now i think all is good. Maybe in the fall when it cools off a bit i may climb under there again & explore that option but i just wanna enjoy it for now.

On a side night i pulled my t-stat apart & cleaned it all up yesterday. Driving today it doesn`t appear to have changed any so i guess i must have gotten all the junk out of there the last time i flushed the system.
