my dad is thinking about building a pulling tractor and we know where a 4440 is for cheep. what are the pros and cons of using this tractor? also he's looking to pull in a 10k open class just for fun.

You don't want a powershift that's for sure. Does it have a cab? If I remember right it maybe hard to get down to 10. I'm also curious what your "cheap" is?

It will be a powershift or quad range, I've had a dozen of those tractors apart with various issues, the shaft that runs the hydraulic pump getting twisted and breaking seems to be the most common, if they don't catch fire and burn to the ground first LOL

You see some guys run the quads with ok luck.

I've seen guys with quad shifts have way better luck than powershifts.
