My 04 is just as weak. It wouldn't hold 570rwhp, much less 800rwhp. Gear reduction in the diff puts serious torque on the wheel brakes.

A lot of it is the converter, it was the tightest one Goerend made 3 years ago. I really need to pull it and send it back for a refresh/restall. That would help my spool a ton too. I doubt the 4.10's are helping anything either.

I have 4.10s and with the 1800 stall 23-25 psi could be held. With the current 2200 ish stall I could probably holds as much as 30 but have not tried (been up to 25 with no problem).

I agree, the pinion brake can help both 4x4 and 2x4 but like I was getting at with 2x4 really really think it would help!

You should be able to hold as much as you need on a 4wd. If its not holding, you have a problem with the brakes or a way too tight converter.
