I'm seeing these trucks starting to die does anyone think there will be any cummins swaps into these?

I don't see why not, electrical can/could be somewhat of an issue. I personal have been keeping my eye out for one todo a swap on, as I have a cummins swap buinsess and can add more parts to sell.

Alumiduty or last gen? I don't see why not on the 11-16. Depends on your version of finish.

I'd be tempted to do a 11-16 swap. As far as I know the holdups will be electrical.

Maybe I'm behind the times, but I thought the 6R140 was the issue with swapping these.

It's probably my favorite Superduty body style, but the transmission interface and tuning was what stopped me from looking for one. Has someone made it work? My Ford buddies claim the 6R140 is one tough auto, but nice if it was possible.

Yeah, but TurboM700 can mate a manual to anything, and joefarmer can make a PCM for anything. So you already have to two correct people in this thread!

So, what's the actual issue(s) with the 6.7 PowerStroke?
I keep getting offered them as cores, but no info as to what's killing them?

Mark.

How would you utilize the high and low temp cooling circuits? Out of curiosity

Why would you need to? I think the idea of the swap is to keep things simple.

If I was going todo one it would be a 6.7 cummins with a 6r140 behind it.

Now the common sense side of me has to wonder why take a good motor(ford 6.7) and put in another good motor(6.7 cummins) all that work for very little gain. When you look at swapping in cummins in a 2010 and later ford it makes sense but there is nothing wrong with the 6.7 ford motors.

I'm sure at some point I will end up doing one just so I can build parts to sell as these trucks are almost 10yrs and getting pretty cheap, and of course you will have the guys that will want to swap in the noisy 12v into them.

Early ones will break exhaust valves. Also see some cranks breaking, oil pump failures.

All in all they are an excellent engine/transmission combo.

I can’t see what would be the point of swapping a Cummins into one. You wouldn’t save any money over building the 6.7, reliability wouldn’t increase, and the associated headaches of a drivetrain swap of this magnitude seem a bit pointless.

I’m sure someone will do it at some point tho.

Oh, so some similar crap happening that the Dodge 6.7 Cummins is known for.

Okay. Got it.

Mark.

It's not a need to question. I want to know, since the structure exists, how would you utilize it if you were so inclined.

They might be noisy but a 12 valve is as reliable as they come. Been hunting for a broke 6.4 but was thinking if there is a kit coming I'd rather have the later model.

I know nothing about the 6.7 trucks other than they drive good. The 05 I have a 12 valve in works great, just grossed 35,000 with it today and pulls great with the mild cummins. Just thinking and wondering!

I’m in the same boat as others in this thread, I love my 14’ powerstroke (other than it being a 350 and riding like a lumber wagon) the truck is attractive, tons of power in stock form and has far more usable space than my 06 mega cab.

I have been think lately that a great swap would be 99-07 fummins f250 or better yet an excursion with an 11-16 front end swap. You get the cab size, the motor, the body style and no epa concerns with a pre 07 model.

I love the idea of a mild 6.7 VE pumped/ 47re firepunk built excursion with an 11-16 front end. I would also spend the coin for steering Improvements. Probably run a 285 ish tire and no lift so my wife can still climb in it

I've been toying with the idea of buying that era truck and cutting the front clip off of an excursion to put them together. Those things look tough when they are done.

You should ride around in the 12v powered F-450 everyday
Actually I think with the coil spring front it rides better than my old 95 F-350 4x4 7.3 truck
