i knew of a local guy that had 2nd gen 3/4 ton reg cab lwb. he had the front end setup so when he hung a thousand pounds on the front, it would then become solid. rear was also solid. this setup worked like a dream. never any issues with front driveline breaking. so it can be done just takes some brain storming

I take it you are referring to Chris Newsomes old green and silver truck. His truck would be solid as far and squatting the front of the truck with the weights, but there was nothing keeping the front end from coming back up so he still had some suspension there. I have seen both 2nd and 3rd gen trucks strapped down solid and both would bounce badly even with the rearend blocked and tighed down solid aswell.

For those who do not believe me, why don't you try it yourself. Strap the front end down solid with no up travel at all just as if it were welded solid to the frame and see what happens. The only way I see that it wouldn't bounce would be if it were a mud or really sandy track and the truck would barely move the sled at all. Even then it would probably still bounce.
