Hey guys, I thought I would start a thread where we could recommend and discuss movies. There are lots of family friendly movies out there. I'm always looking for suggestions :D

I will recomend a couple of the obvious ones.
Facing the Giants
and Fireproof.

Amazing movies that every couple should watch together.

Another one of my favorite movies is Evan Almighty. Has anyone else seen this? What do you think of it? To me it is a really great story about blind faith. Having faith in God, and doing for him even though you don't know why, and even though it goes against what society thinks. It also has a great message about family sticking together and becoming closer. It is a great movie. We watch it with the kids at least once a month.

How about you guys? Any good suggestions?
 
Facing the Giants and Fireproof are two of my favorite movies. There is another movie in that series called Flywheel. It's the first movie they produced. If you have not seen it, check it out.
 
Yeah I knew about Flywheel, just never seen it.
I have been meaning to check that one out.
 
Got all of those recently along with Pete Maravich story....

good, especially since I am prone to yell "GEAUX TIGERS" !!!! and an lsu alum...

Also, the guy that plays his coach in high school was my track coach in high school !!! Boots Garland - he ended up coaching track at LSU too...

Talk about a riot !!! they had to tone Boot's personality down to play a movie !!!


Not movies as such, but we just got some dvd's from Jack Van Impe about the new world order.... VERY interesting !:nos:
 
i seen flywheel good movie.funny thing it was 1.99 at blockbuster.not use to getting so much for so little!
 
All are great, however being a firefighter Fireproof is my fav! I got the book aswell, it has been a great blessing to my marriage. Nothing makes you think like this, we all seem to be tempted and struggle with same issues. May God Bless the producers and everyone involved.
 
Fireproof is the best one I have seen to date. The movie is great, the book is better. On the same subject, Every Mans Battle is a good book. It seems that the biggest struggle for men is porn, it is always a talking point at men's retreats. Makes you think twice about going to one of those websites when you see the pain on a woman's face like the movie portrayed.

Great site to verify and check any movie and/or tv show before you and your kids watch it. We use it for the kids here at our facility. No more worrying if a movie in theaters will be appropriate for you and your young ones. Check the site out

Side note, we wont show the kids Evan almighty, its a mockery in certain ways.

Watched Fireproof the other night with the wife at the church. Well, actually, we put it on the white outside wall of the post office so the whole town could see it. :D Great show. I filled the wife's drink at Mazzios yesterday at lunch for her without being asked. I told her "that was my one unexpected, nice thing to do for you today." She didn't really even smile. :hehe:

That is a great website Steve. Thanks for the link. I will be using it in the future for sure!

As for Evan Almighty, I don't see it that way at all. I think you can take what you want to from it. That movie, along with a few other events in the past year have had a profound impact on my life.

Here is the link to the description of it on the Plugged in Online website for anyone who is interested in reading about it or seeing it. Be sure to read all the way down and read the "Special word from Dr. James Dobson" for an opposing viewpoint. Can't say I agree with the Dr. 100%, but it is worth reading.

I bought it a month or so ago. I havent' watched it cause it is a gift for the family for Christmas. Looking forward to seeing it too! :D

No one mentioned The Passion of Christ (think that's the correct name)? I haven't seen it because I just haven't. Guess I'm affraid of seeing the truth so graphically depicted? Thoughts?

fireproof, facing the giants and flywheel were all wonderful movies, and movies that had good christian people playing in it.

the passion of christ is a good movie, its hard to watch imo. since it wasnt as grafic as what probably happened, but it was more grafic than most action movies. and it was my fault jesus had to suffer that.

now for a movie i would like to add to the list, is FOREVER STRONG. it dont realy push religion. it is more of an insperation and character building movie. it is about a troubled teen rugby player that had an accident, and went to juvi, then to get out earlier, he had to play for hi teams biggest rival, and changed his life. i recomend people watching. i give it a 10 imo
