Timing

Jeff, when you put the new VP44 on my 99 Dodge Ram you said you had increased the timing. Did just changing the pump (the 045?) increase the timing or did you do something to increase it. I am wondering because when my truck was apart I was told the timing looked like it might be to advanced. I have the smarty and the edge. I just want to know what my base is so when I do it advance it with the Edge or Smarty I do not over advance it and do damage to the engine. Or do I even have to worry about it? Thanks for the great work on the head gasket change and O rings. She is driving like a new one on steroids.

Can anyone tell me if changing the fuel injection pump advance the timing?

Run the Smarty on even numbers so that it doesn't add timing when stacked with the Comp. I would even take the Smarty off. Do some searching on the stack and see what other guys have said.
