Supercharged Powerstroke

I just joined up thought I would show my current project. Blower is an eaton M122 over the turbo on my 7.3 I have upgraded the blower to a VMP generation 2 eaton TVS and added a bypass. I am just running some tunes on the stock injectors currently. Setup makes 1.5 psi @ idle and no more than 5 psi pre turbo. Next up I plan on getting some software to self tune and bigger sticks. I have been driving it daily for about 4 months now.
This was the old blower.
I daily drive this rig and use it up in the foothills climbing steep logging roads. Maintains pre turbo boost even at 6400 elevation.

Blower just feeds a FMIC then into the turbo. I plan to improve the setup so the super feeds turbo then threw the intercooler. The bypass is the second picture down. It is just a check valve essentially. Pressure holds it closed and vaccum pulls the flaps inside open.

I'm guessing the FMIC is a intercooler of sorts? Not very familiar with Fords. Where did you get the bypass and how is it working? Basically the bypass is Teed into the feed to the turbo from the blower? So while the blower is feeding turbo pressure in the pipe holds "flaps" closed and then when turbo begins to overcome blower the "flaps" pull open?

X2 on bypass setup, I have a procharger laying around wanting to install. I thought of doing a hobs switch setup to an electric actuator, so when set to prolly 10 psi it will open the actuator for a bypass???

FMIC = Front mount intercooler

This is the valve I am using. http://www.pdblowers.com/pr13351-3-i...heck-valve.php
Once the turbo sucks more air than the Blower can provide the valve is pulled open and the turbo sucks from atmosphere thru a secondary filter. This effect also unloads the blower as it is still sucking air from the discharge as well. Once the turbo spools up this also helps reduce the parasitic drag of the blower. Once the turbo is spooled and the bypass is open you don't even hear the super anymore just the turbo singing thru the bypass. I am only driving the blower to a maximum of 11,000 rpm currently and it's capable of 19,000 rpm. I may add a double pulley system latter to be capable of stepping up and down the drive ratio.

That is pretty cool. Perfect for a daily driver / tow rig. Especially at a higher elevation.

That check valve is awesome! I bet that works perfectly. No springs, no diaphragms, no extra junk. Completely simple.

Very cool man & good work! Definitely dig the super setups & you have my attention. If I may, what did you rig up for your crank pulley? I can see it looks to have a separate drive system. I have an ol ProCharger D1b & kicked around the idea of getting it fabbed onto one of my 5.9's. Then looked into using one of Empire's kits for mounting a RR ProCharger to the the Cummins CR. $3500-4k was a bit much for me. That and I realized my charger is standard rotation. I haven't made 'er very far.

One belt drives everything. The crank pulley is the oem pulley. The charger pulley is a 2.4" pulley smallest I can go. One company does build an overdrive set of gears to internally overdrive the blower by 50% but the cost is a little more than I want to blow. Also if I spin it harder it will likely just equal more wear and parasitic loss.

Doh! My bad, in the photobucket pic looking down at the motor bay it looked like 2 belts to my walleyed azz. That's handy it all runs off of one belt. I have been told with some super/turbo compound setups there may be a need for a blow-off valve to keep from barking the turbo hard when snapping off of the throttle. Although the ones I have seen didn't have a bypass IRC. Honestly not quite sure if the rep was just trying to push parts or if there really is a need for one. Curious what turbo do you run? What's your experience been when horsing around with it?

Currently it feeds the stock turbo and it has no issues so far. If the setup is a high boost setup it may need a blowoff?? I have no clue on that. The most I see is 5 psi pre turbo/post intercooler. I plan to upgrade the turbo in the future. The charger simply just complements the low end. The truck is a 4wd truck with 33 1/2" Toyo MT, 3.55 gears, and a 5 speed manual. It's nice to have instant boost as not to have lag between shifts and a quicker response when calling for power. Cleared up some smoke. Also acts as an engine brake. Fuel economy hasn't change much. Freeway stayed the same 20ish and around town it's about 14-15 mpg

Where did you source most of your serpentine pulleys and such?

The only idler added was a oem Motorcraft idler to provide more wrap on the AC compressor. I need to add another idler to give more wrap on the tiny 2.4" blower pulley. All I did was relocate the Alternator to the driver side and used the flat mounting surface of the Alt bracket to mount the 3/4" thick 6061 T6 aluminum mounting plate. I just run a gator back belt to improve grip.

Awesome setup, man! I know I'll be looking into one of those checks, I still haven't got my throttle body redone because I know it's gonna be a waste of time.

:edit: I lied, I went straight to the page and bought one.

Thanks for the info, man!!
