WORKIN' MAN'S DOLLAR
The Military Channel just did a nice show about them...Back in April 04 they rolled out of Anaconda running security for one of the KBR tanker convoys headed to the North Gate at BIAP and were hit about 5 clicks from the North Gate...Mind you they were running on bad intel and directions and at the last minute they were swapped from the South Gate to the North Gate...KBR lost 6 drivers that day and the military lost 2...They took fire from 200-300 insurgents and at that time it was the biggest ambush ever staged by the insurgents...The 1st Cav was setting up a FOB at Milk Factory while in the middle of thier own battle and the 724 got lucky and managed to meet them there and get inside to get more ammo and get the wounded medical attention...One KBR and one military was captured that day...The KBR Convoy Commander managed to escape days later, sadly SGT. Matt Maupin (Batavia Ohio) didn't...It was along time before his remains were recovered...I knew some of the KBR guys that were on that Convoy, I worked with them at CEDAR II...1 Silver Star (maybe 2), 3 Bronze Stars, 4 purple hearts, and a bunch more...It was also the first time that a Reservist had been awarded a Silver Star...They waded through hell to save alot of our drivers and thier men also...They were stacking wounded people in the backs of HMMWVs (12 total people in one) and they continued to fight and even went back for more wounded...

Here is the link to the video one of the KBR guys made to honor our fallen drivers that day...I'm sorry you can't listen to the music as youtube sucks...
