That is not a Motorcraft filter. I would highly recommend using OEM parts, especially filters, on your truck.

Yes I heard motorcraft filters are the way to go.

I bought what the forums said were motorcraft but actually racor filters. So I'm running all racor filters now, I'm not one to skimp on maintenance items, especially on a finicky truck like the 6.0.

The earlier ford and some aftermarket lower fuel filters had a air bleed built in. RARELY did people install them with the bleed hole at the 12 o'clock position and that is how the fuel filter would look. New Ford filter has a locating stop on them so they only go one way......unless you crush it.

Update:

Was just driving on freeway and it seemed like it was slow today like the brakes were still on so I turned on the banks PDA to monitor temps.

Coolant was around 195-200* max but oil temp got up to 244*! I pulled over and let it cool of for a bit and double checked oil level.

I guess this means I need a new oil cooler. Was on my to do list but it just made priority.

What is the best oil cooler for these 6.0 short of the $1,000 plus external from bulletproof? I hear oem ford? Best place to buy, or part number?

What about IPR high flow?

I also bought Zerex Heavy Duty ELC coolant from napa and will be running that.

I would just get a Ford cooler. Might as well do the egr cooler delete while you're there. Get an intake install kit and turbo install kit when you do it.

Thanks moose.

I'm going to weld egr closed on both ends so it passes visual.

So just the cooler from ford, intake and turbo install kits?

Thinking ill clean the vanes on turbo while at it, gotta find a good write up on it.

Just ordered some parts from Trousley Ford last night, then also ordered Mishimoto 200* thermostat.

Figured might as well upgrade FP regulator to blue spring, & clean the turbo while I'm at it.

Anything else I should do while I have it torn down?
