Electronic Performance Enhancement for Dummies

Due to my lack of proficiency with electronic performance enhancement products that aren't necessary on my old dino 12V's, I have a PCM Tuner/Programmer question.

Would it be possible on my '98.5 to "re-program" the PCM with a tuner to correct my speedo by adjusting tire size? Since I don't want to buy something like a Smarty or similar product just to do this, could I borrow one from a friend and reprogram my truck without VIN locking it to my truck?

Not what he is looking for.

Bigpaga; what you are wanting is to update the abs module which is what gets the speed sensor signal. A dealer can change the tire size. I know on another forum they are working on another product to do the same.

An obd tuner will adjust speedo...i dont know any that will and also be removable to tune other trucks. It VIN locks for adjustments.

There are speedo only adjusters, just have to look. Hell even a dealer maybe able to.
