Common rail conversion
Welp I had browns diesel take my p pumped 24v out and we did a 06 common rail conversion with efi and a 5 position switch. Truck absolutely runs awesome. Question I have is what would it take to get ALL my factory gauges to work? Currently the mph, fuel level, and volts still work but the tach, coolant temp, and oil do not. I am running a cst2 for gauges now so I can see what I can't on the dash. Would it be possible to swap a 3rd gen dash in since I am running cr now or a way to make work with what I got? I mean it ain't bad with the cst2 but would be convenient if the dash worked. Thanks in advance. Been a while since I have been on here.

You would need the ecm to send the bus messages to the pcm to get the factory dash to work. A 98 12v harness, pcm and cluster is an option. I have only seen about 2 3rd gen dash swaps installed and actually function as intended.

Problem with the factory tach is there is only a 2 groove setup on a 24v balancer. There are 4 I believe on a common rail so the factory 24v sensor would not read the correct rpm I think

The 12v pcm and cluster might be the way to go just have to figure out rpm

The common rail should have a multi toothed tone wheel behind the balancer I thought?

Lol it wouldn't read correctly. Get a 12v balancer and mount the ESS to the front cover.

I liked the p pumped 24v with twins but it got boring driving it with smoke everywhere. Got the cr at 550whp and it's a dream to drive. Like a stock truck if I want but with some power and stock like driving characteristics. I love it. Wish I went cr the first swap
