The wheel doesn't grab the air, it creates an area of low pressure behind the leading edge of the main blade. The diffuser size and shape can have a large impact on the overall rise in pressure.
Laws control the lesser man. Right conduct controls the greater one.

I think it turned out pretty good. Nice transition all the way to the edge. I checked clearance with some vaseline afterwards and it looks nice and consistent.

Next up I need to get a chunk of aluminum and make a new antisurge ring because the previous idiot took it out trying to get rid of the silencer ring.
