I believe it's closer to 7.1 liter with a custom large piston and factory 6.7 Cummins crankshaft stuffed into a solid hamilton block.

Great info thank you, so the 2 best answers were.. weight reduction and a 7.1 liter.. I have a lightweight brake kit I was saving for the 9" project but after reading your post im going to run them on my dana 80 and see what it gets me. Here are the actual weights new vs old.
dana 80 drum 52.4 lbs
dana 80 hub and bearings 21 lbs
dana 80 backing plate with shoes and wardware 19.2 lbs
total weight 92.6 lbs
rotating weight 73.4 lbs
lightweight brakes
hubs with bearings and rotor 16 lbs
caliper brackets, calipers and pads 10 lbs
total weight 26 lbs
rotating weight 16 lbs
I saved 66.6 lbs total and 57.4 lbs of rotating weight per side. I hope this gets me some decent gains. I went with twin calipers per side, I still want to be able to stop this thing lol, definitely gave up some surface area going to disk vs drum... pic of what I have going on...

innovative machining solutions. The work is awesome. When I ordered them it took quite awhile to get them... I think he was having growing pains with his business. Im guessing he's probably straightened out by now.

I really expected more slips in here!
I have gone 10.5 on stock motor, cracked intercooler, hurt fuel pump...
All of that is fixed now, and just got truck started a few days ago... so hopefully I'll be good to go on making some 9sec passes here soon.....

Most of my appreciation for the CSI dodge didn’t come until later, realizing that it wasn’t chopped to bits like guys are doing now, and still running very low 9’s is very impressive.
Also the trick MPM torque converter and fat input shaft made those low 9’s possible. Bolt together converters were mainly a gas application back then. Too bad I won’t really test the capability of my MPM converter.
