order a 485 to have room to grow later.. because here in canada its expensive to get customs turbo from USA.. change rates,Shipping,Customs and duties fees.. that is why i think to order the 485 and not to have to pay all this again later if i order a 480 now..

BUT. it is really worth it to get the 485.. bigger is not always better sometimes..

I ran a standard s480 from HTT for like 5yrs. It was called as a model a "super Dave". It was cast 8 blade comp and had the 5.5" cover. Went to a s485 with a different comp cover and it was a pretty major change.

Yes in compounds and both with the 96/1.32 housing. Other things were changed at the same time but it's undeniable the new 485 and cover is a whole lot more potent than the old cast 80.

With a 12mm pump I don't see any reason to go past a box 80. 485 is 1150-1300hp worth of air.

Should be minimal difference in response from a 480 to 485. They'll both have the same exducer on comp side unless one is a regular profile and the 85 is an ETT. The base Exducer size would still be the same though.

So EVERY 485 on the market has the same exducer eh?

Our 85mm S400 compressor wheel has a 115mm base exducer and is 119 to 125 at the extended tips depending on the wheel. Stock 80mm is 111mm base exducer.

An 85mm in a race cover is better than an 80mm crammed in the standard cover any day. SO, which cover do you have on yours OP?
