Looking like the O.G. Cummins guy was right, but it also looks like #6 injector lobe is finished too. Guess we need to pull the front apart now.

Thanks, pyro is next on the list. Not sure what exactly its set at, but north of 600 I'm pretty sure. But he runs with a C13 truck so it doesn't get ran hard lol.

Yeah. Haven't got a liner out yet to see if it needs cutting yet, I'll get back to it Tuesday.

My freightliner has the Mercedes engine in it set at 450 I believe. It would run right with that c13 truck.

78-80k
Everything I've looked at, it's in good health. I think I'm just expecting too much out of a 430hp engine.

thats a sweet looking rig, i have a soft spot for those trucks
I think i agree with you
If your used to driving a "big block" cat your never gonna be happy how the 12-13 liter engines pull, I think the best of the bunch was the 12.7 detroit. Thats me comparing to c-12 430 and c-13 430.
I loved the way my DDEC IV pulled in my 2000 classic, it was set at 500, low pro 24's with 3.70's and 13 speed. Definitely not a big block but it pulled my 80k loads around the southeast good and returned good mpg. Helps to have a 13/18 speed with the smaller engines, the half gears come in handy
I put about 150k on a company truck(99 t-800) 12.7 set to 500 with 10 speed and 3.90's with 11r22.5's. It pulled great but the damn thing was at 1800 rpm at 75 mph
I put about 50k on a 2006 sterling day cab with mbe4000 set to 450-ish? it pulled hard but it too had 3.90s and 10 speed with 11-22.5's. the kenworth with exact same lumber load would walk away from it in the hills That Mercedes spent alot of time in the shop with all sorts of issues, egr, turbo, head gasket, cracked exhaust manifold etc. I wasnt a fan of the exhaust brake either.

I've been doing a lot of reading and there is a euro file that is capable of putting these 13's at 500-525 supposedly. How long they last at this specs, I haven't found out.

All my digging was through the internet. Haney was the one who stated there is a 500 or 525 tune and with two numbers changed around a little it'll pick up another 25 horse and will embarrass a stock 550 c-15. What he claimed anyhow.
