47RH 2wd to 4wd question

Ok, long story short I am in the process of building a '96 F-350 4x4 SCLB Fummins, I have a complete 2wd '95 Dodge donor truck. I purchased a 4x4 overdrive unit for the 47RH and a 241 DHD tcase, to convert the 2wd tranny to 4wd. My question is how do I get the 2wd tail section off of the main case? I've got all the bolts undone but it feels like there is a snap ring holding it together. I'm no tranny expert so I don't just want to start disassembling the transmission if I don't have to. I thought I remember seeing a thread on here that would answer my question but I have searched and can't seem to find it again. Any help is appreciated, once I get this figured out I can get it cleaned up and into the truck
Thanks in advance!

Once the parking rod is removed and the bolts are removed, it will come apart. The intermediate shaft splines into some planetary gears in the overdrive housing and sometimes the shaft splines and planetary sun-gear splines get slightly twisted to where it difficult to remove the housing. Just tap it off with a small hammer and it'll break free. The snap ring is for removing the internal guts of the overdrive assembly from the overdrive housing, no need to touch it to swap overdrive from 4x2 to 4x4.

How do I remove the parking rod? I'm not at home so I can't look at it right now, is it by the shift linkage?
