So Ive been wanting to build my truck 04.5 2nd gen s363 and built trans. tuned smarty udc/ anarchy back in June I burnt up cylinder 6 and have been buying parts since was planing on using 12v rods because I didn't want to spend 3k on rods. but now I found apex rods for 2k but theres not a lot of info about them. should I stick with the 12v rods, I think the set I have are Mexico, or look for a used set of billet r&r, wagler, Carrillo? or the APEX?

the build sheet as of now

20 over block
12v crank
20 over qsb 480 marine pistons
60% over 03-04 DDP injectors
10mm H&S CP3
D&J precision stage 1 head
Hamilton 188/220 cam
tater s363 over tater s480
maxspool push rods
arp 625s head studs
fluid damper
fleece coolant bypass
Fass 150
oh and can't forget currently have 12v rods with arp studs but have a feeling ill be buy billet rods

so I have the ARP main studs for use with factory block stiffener think thats good to go builder wants me to get a gorilla girdle if I go that route will studs I already bought work or will I also need new main studs?

builder also wants to fire ring the head and the block says we just need to torque cold, hot, cold and so on then again in 200 miles then it should be good to go.

I'm planing on making the swith from smarty to HP tuners with either Firepunk or gordon at innovtive

the truck is more of a weekend or when I need to move things truck, so it won't be daily drivien. plan to tow in the future so didn't want to go crazy on the fuel.

thanks in advance for all the help and wisdom you guys will share

What is your reasoning behind using a 12v crank, rather than a CR crank that already has the correct gear?

FYI R&R and Wagler rods are basically one in the same now. R&R is no more. I can't offer advice on the Apex. That said, Waglers sure are nice and make me sleep a little better at nice.

In my eyes, thats not enough fuel to ring the head or block. Can always ring it later if it gives you problems. If you do a good resurface on both block and head with 625's you should be good to go.

Since you want to tow, I'd suggest MM3 so you can switch tunes more easily.
