You know damm right
Or so they say anyway..;)
Let's face it folks, pictures REALLY help to show what you're talking about. Here's what you need to do to post a picture in a thread:
  1. (This list deals with posting a picture directly from your computer)
  2. Before you write your post, I suggest you do the following first. Check the picture you plan on uploading to make sure it fits the size requirements. (750 X 600 pixels) If the picture is larger than this DON'T PANIC..We can change the size very easily. :) SEE BELOW FOR PICTURE RESIZING INSTRUCTIONS.
  3. Write your post as you want it to appear. If you're loading a picture from your computer, the picture will show under the text you have written.
  4. When you have your text written, preview it with the "Preview post" button. Edit your text if you need to.
  5. Below the "Submit Thread/Reply" button is the additional options. Click on Manage Attatchments.
  6. Click one of the "Browse" buttons to locate the picture on your computer. (I strongly suggest that you put the picture on the desktop or another easy to find place on your computer as finding files buried in picture folders can be difficult to find.)
  7. Click on the picture filename and click the "Open" button.
  8. IMPORTANT: You will come back to the Manage Attatchments screen..YOUR PICTURE IS NOT UPLOADED YET...
  9. Click the "Upload" button. Depending on your connection speed, this may take a minute or two.
  10. When your picture is uploaded, you will see a box pop up that says "Current Attatchments" along with the filename of your picture.
  11. You may now click "Close this window". (This will close the attachments window, not your reply window)
  12. Now, you're back to the post page again. If you're happy with your text, click "Submit post"
Congratulations! You've posted your picture along with your post. Please note that if you want to post just a picture as your post, you MUST have something in the text area. (A couple periods, a smiley, etc) You may upload up to 5 pictures per post. Use a separate browse button to select each picture, then click the upload button when you've selected the pictures you want on you post. If you want to load more than five pictures, you'll need to post again and load them the same way as mentioned above.

Now, if you have your pictures loaded on another site:
  1. This is much simpler as the picture isn't taking up the forum's server space
  2. Start your post just as you normally would.
  3. Now, if you want your picture inline with your text, you can type what you want before the picture
  4. Click the image icon (that's the yellow square that looks like it has a few mountains in it)
  5. A window will pop up asking you for the web address of your picture (the http:\\ address) What works well is to go to the website that has your picture on it and copy it (control-c) from your browser's address bar. Then, you can simply paste it in the box after you delete what is in there alread (control-p to paste)
  6. Your picture is now loaded. You may continue your post, or click "Submit reply"
  7. NOTE: Some websites do not allow other sites to post pictures that are uploaded on their site to othersites (also known as hotlinking) The bad thing is, you won't know this until someone says they can't see the pictures. If this happens, you'll need to either find another site that allows you to hotlink your pictures or upload them directly from your computer.
  8. Also, if you don't want to use the Image button, you can upload them with the "Manage attachments" option below the submit thread button. When you click the manage attachment button, a new window will pop up. Simply paste the URL (address) of your picture in one of the boxes below the "Upload file from a URL:
  9. click "upload" after you have entered the address of your picture
Now, if you picture is larger than the maximum size,we can fix that.
If you are using Windows XP for your operating system, you can download a very simple tool to resize your pictures. click here to download This downloads "powertoys" onto your computer. You can use the paint program to resize your pictures as well. Keep this in mind. You need a special program to resize .gif pictures if you want to keep their animation. Most programs will make them small enough to post, but the animation will be lost. If you do a dogpile or yahoo search, I'm sure you can find a resizing program that will work for you.

Of course, if you need help with loading pictures, don't hesitate to ask one of the staff members. We're here to make sure you enjoy your time here at Competition Diesel...
